Microsoft Corp. said that the roll-out of the Xbox One game console will be relatively quick, but admitted that many countries, including such major market as Japan, will see the new system only in 2014. As reported, Microsoft intends to release Xbox One in 21 “tier one” countries this November.

At a press conference in Japan a representative for Microsoft interactive entertainment business unit said that the country of the rising sun will see Xbox One only with the second wave of the launch. As it appears, Microsoft determined 21 “tier one” countries, where it will release the console this year, as well as “tier two” countries, where the new systems will be rolled out in 2014, but not significant amount of time after the launch in North America.

“For the launch of Xbox One Japan is a Tier 2 country and not a Tier 1 country, so it will come with the second wave, that will be delayed a little bit [compared to North America]. It will not be delayed too much from the North American release,” said Yasuyuki Higuchi, president and chief executive of Microsoft Japan, reports DualShockers web-site.

This November the new Xbox One game console will hit such markets as Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.

During the second wave of the launch, Microsoft may release Xbox One in Japan, South Korea and Eastern Europe. Keeping in mind the fact that Microsoft Xbox brand is not really strong in Japan, South Korea and Europe, delay of the launch may further complicate the promotion of the new console on those markets (simply because Microsoft will naturally miss the important year-end sales season). Nonetheless, in case Microsoft manages to roll-out Xbox One globally in four to five months, it will generally be a success as previously it took Microsoft well over a year to launch Xbox 360 game console across all major markets.

Microsoft Xbox One is based on AMD Fusion custom-designed system-on-chip with eight x86 low-power/low-cost Jaguar cores, AMD Radeon HD graphics with GCN architecture (with 32MB ESRAM/EDRAM buffer) as well as 8GB of DDR3 system memory. The console features 500GB hard disk drive, Blu-ray disc drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet, output of video with up to 4K resolution (3840*2160) using HDMI 1.4 as well as 7.1-channel audio. The new Xbox One comes with completely redesigned Kinect sensor that will feature 1920*1080 RGB camera, improved infrared sensor and enhanced voice controls. The console sports a number of functions, e.g. TV-cable pass-through that will seamlessly integrate it into the living room.

The Xbox One launch bundle will be available for $499.99 in the U.S., £429 in the U.K. and €499 in European markets.

Good luck MS. Japanese market will prefer PS4 without any doubt, also because it will be released first there, and also because of the amount of Japanese games made exclusively for PS4. I think this is a very bad move indeed from MS to release the Xbone only next year.
