Just in case an ordinary Xbox One is not enough to satisfy demands of certain gamers, Harrods, a popular department store in London, England, has a solution. An exclusive gold-plated Xbox One is available for buying for £6000 at the store. Regretfully for the buyer, the controllers supplied with the console are standard.
The Microsoft Xbox One game console was gold plated by customization company Crystal Rocked, according to the Telegraph. The 24 carat gold version of Xbox One is one and only in the world, so the owner can be assured of the product’s exclusive nature. Unfortunately, while the console looks like it is made of gold, it comes with standard black controllers as well as Kinect motion sensor, which makes it somewhat less stylish.
Crystal Rocked is the London based company who is responsible for some of the world’s most exclusive products in the market. Using a variety of Swarovski Elements and precious metals, these items are all customized in London studios offering the highest quality and craftsmanship. Earlier this year Crystal Rocked started to sell a full range of its products at Harrods Technology, located on the 3rd floor of the store in London. The gold-plated Xbox One is a limited edition product made exclusively for Harrods.
Since its launch back on November 21, Xbox One has been sold through to gamers in two million quantity, a record for the Xbox franchise. On November 21, Xbox One became available in 13 markets worldwide, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Austria. Over a million Xbox One systems were sold through in the first 24 hours of availability, which includes pre-orders.
Microsoft claims that it sold over a million of Xbox One game consoles to gamers across all thirteen markers in the first day of availability. While the number clearly impresses, it should be noted that Sony managed to sell over a million of PlayStation 4 consoles just a week ago in the U.S. and Canada alone. Keeping in mind the fact that the X1 was sold on very strong markets in addition to the U.S. and Canada, one million units shipped to customers can hardly be considered as a breakthrough.
Microsoft Xbox One is based on AMD Fusion custom-designed system-on-chip with eight x86 low-power/low-cost Jaguar cores, AMD Radeon HD graphics with GCN architecture (with 32MB ESRAM/EDRAM buffer) as well as 8GB of DDR3 system memory. The console features 500GB hard disk drive, Blu-ray disc drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet, output of video with up to 4K resolution (3840*2160) using HDMI 1.4 as well as 7.1-channel audio. The new Xbox One comes with completely redesigned Kinect sensor that will feature 1920*1080 RGB camera, improved infrared sensor and enhanced voice controls. The console sports a number of functions, e.g. TV-cable pass-through that will seamlessly integrate it into the living room.
Microsoft Xbox One is available for $499 in North America, €499 in mainland Europe and /£429 in the U.K.
