Creative, Seagate Team Up for Portable Players

Seagate's ST1 HDDs to Power Creative’s Players

Seagate Technology, a leading storage company, said this week Creative Technology, the world’s largest multimedia firm, would use Seagate’s ST1 hard disk drive for the company’s upcoming portable music player.

The Seagate ST1-series, the industry’s first 1” hard drive to offer 2.5GB and 5GB capacities, providing larger music libraries for users. Seagate’s new RunOn Technology improves music streaming performance when jogging or walking. RunOn Technology helps the ST1 drive sense a high motion environment and compensate for it, enabling the drive to find the music it is looking for. The Seagate ST1 Series can hold up to 90 hours 128kbps music files, its typical time-to-ready is 2 seconds or less, and its unique rugged design helps music players withstand the abuse that hand-held devices take.

Design Service Centers, Seagate develops drives to deliver the features CE manufacturers ask for - quiet acoustics, high reliability and top streaming performance. Seagate consumer electronics engineers are ready to help solve integration issues at the company’s unique Design Service Centers, the company said.

Creative declined to disclose peculiarities of its upcoming music players with Seagate’s hard drives inside.
