In a bid to exclude possibilities of injuries as well as damages of various equipment, Nintendo now adds special safety Wii Remote Jacket to every wireless controller of the Wii game console. Current owners of the device may also order the soft cover free of charge.
“We’re always looking for ways to improve our products and make sure everyone has a safe and fun experience. Many electronics manufacturers provide similar protective covers for products like cell phones, PDAs and MP3 players,” said George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications.
Nintendo Wii game consoles utilize wireless motion-sensitive game controllers that have a wrist strap to avoid their damage in case users release them from their hands accidentally. Late last year it was discovered that the initial batch of straps that were supposed to preserve against flying “Wiimotes” sometimes break off, causing damage or even injuries of users. Nintendo replaced the straps free and now will also provide a special “jacket” that will preserve the remote controller in case the new straps also break off.
Nintendo is now including the Wii Remote Jacket for the Wii Remotes in all new hardware being shipped. Nintendo Wii owners who purchased their systems prior to this addition should request a Wii Remote Jacket by completing the information form at Nintendo’s web-site.
