Microsoft fully expects Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation 3 to outsell Xbox 360 video game console in the U.S. in September; however, the world’s largest software company also expects its own system to outsell the PS3 in this generation.
“When NPD releases September sales later today, we fully expect PlayStation 3 will come in as the console with the most units sold for the month. This is frankly not a real surprise […]. What I can tell you is we remain confident that Xbox 360 will not only outsell PS3 for the full calendar year, but for this entire generation,” said Aaron Greenberg, a Microsoft Xbox 360 executive, in an interview with GameInformer web-site.
Microsoft believes that services it provides, including, access to Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm and “the ability to instantly watch movies in Instant on HD in 1080p with no disc or download required” will allow it to be the preferable console provide in this generation. But while Microsoft Xbox 360 Arcade is much cheaper compared to Sony PlayStation 3 Slim 120GB, it lacks numerous important features, including Blu-ray, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support.
Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite, the premium Xbox 360 device, features 120GB hard disk drive, one Xbox 360 wireless controller, an Xbox 360 headset, Ethernet cable, composite video cable and so on. Later this year Microsoft plans to release two special editions Xbox 360 Elite with 250GB hard drives, additional wireless controller, a copy of a new video game and other advantages at $399 price-point.
Meanwhile, Sony plans to introduce PlayStation 3 250GB console and further intensify the video game console war.
