Apple has announced that it had sold its three millionth iPad, about 80 days after its initial start of sale in the U.S. Sales of iPad indicate success of tablet PCs in general, which naturally causes anticipations of great sales of slate-type PCs by other manufacturers.

“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives. We are working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive officer.

Apple iPad is a universal media device that allows to read books, watch movies, browse the Internet, read electronic books and to do other things that do not require keyboard. There are and there will be more competing devices and therefore the early success of Apple iPad indicates the potential success of other devices.

And other devices seem to be promising in general. There are loads of tablet PCs from various makers incoming and for those, who want only reading there are electronic book readers. With three million iPads that have sold over three months, there are loads of perspectives for other slates in general.
