Perhaps, Amazon Kindle Fire media tablet is one of the most competitive rival for Apple iPad, but according to Apple itself the launch of the device will actually be a good news for iPad as it will further increase fragmentation of the Android-based tablets' market.
Ben Reitzes, an analyst with Barclays, has met with Tim Cook, chief executive officer of Apple, and claims that Apple does not consider Amazon Kindle Fire as a primary rival for its popular iPad. Quite opposite, Apple sees Kindle Fire as a device that further increases fragmentation on the market of Android-powered tablets since the Fire is not based on the "pure" Android, but on a variation of it.
"While the pricing at $199 looks disruptive for what seems to be the iPad’s most important rising challenge, the Amazon Fire – it is important to note that it could fuel further fragmentation in the tablet market - given it represents yet another platform. While compatible with Android, the apps work with Amazon products. The more fragmentation, the better, says Apple, since that could drive more consumers to the stable Apple platform. We believe that Apple will get more aggressive on price with the iPad eventually but not compromise the product quality and experience," said Mr. Reitzes, reports BusinessInsider web-site.
Kindle Fire tablet will be tailored for applications that are specifically designed for it and will barely support all existing programs for Android that are intended for media tablets and smartphones.
The Amazon Kindle Fire has more drawbacks – amid one certain advantage, its low-price – including lack of 3G models, limitation to Amazon content and app stores, lack of front camera, microphone and others. The Kindle Fire will definitely compete both against Apple iPad as well as Samsung Galaxy Tab mainly because of its low price. Nonetheless, those, who are already looking forward advanced tablets will hardly get the Kindle Fire.
