We do know that both Microsoft Xbox Next as well as Sony PlayStation 4 "Orbis" will be substantially more powerful compared to existing consoles. We also do know that game developers are working on titles for the next-generation game systems. Unfortunately, both statements are essentially rumours. However, a high-ranking executive from Remedy went on the record to confirm both.

"Currently, we are working with a relatively small team on a next-gen project. One question you always ask yourself in this phase is: can the upcoming consoles really be so much better compared to the current gen? I can rest assure you, they are. It is a quantum leap," said Oskari Häkkinen, head of franchise development at Remedy Entertainment, in a conversation with GamesIndustry web-site.

Mr. Häkkinen is reported to have said that Remedy currently has a team of twenty working on an unannounced next-gen title.

In fact, the rep behind the creator of Max Payne and Alan Wake is among the first industry officials, who confirmed not only massively increased performance of the next Xbox and PlayStation, but also on ongoing development of video games for them, which clearly points to the launch in the relatively foreseeable future.

According to market rumours, Xbox Next (also known as Loop or Durango) and Sony PlayStation 4 "Orbis" will offer performance that exceeds that of currently available systems by 6-18 times. Based on unofficial information, both ne consoles will hit the market in late 2013.
