Even though many criticize Nintendo Wii U for lack of performance, it looks like Crytek has actually managed to make its latest Crysis 3 game run on the game console, but did not release the title for the platform due to lack of business relationship between Electronic Arts and Nintendo.

“We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U. We were very close to launching it. But there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company could not launch on the Wii U ourselves – we do not have a publishing license – Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die,” said Cevat Yerli, chief executive officer of Crytek, in an interview with VentureBeat web-site.

Given the fact that Crysis 3 works on Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3, it should not be too hard to launch it on Nintendo Wii U as well. Even though Wii U is not as powerful as the true next-generation game consoles, it is on-par or faster than existing gaming devices, hence, it should be able to run Crysis 3.

What is important is the reason why Crytek did not release its latest title on Wii U. As it appears, Crysis for Wii U was cancelled because of the “lack of business support between Nintendo and EA”. The latter fact rises a question, how many more titles will have to get cancelled because of the same cause.
