After Amazon.com revealed plans to start shipping Xbox One to customers, who will pre-order the game consoles on the 27th of November, 2013, Microsoft Corp. officially said that the date is not necessarily launch date of the next-generation gaming platform.

“We have not informed our retail partners about a specific launch date for the Xbox One. It is commonplace for retailers to put placeholders dates and prices into our system until they are given a specific date and price. We are excited to release the Xbox One in November 2013,” a spokesperson for Microsoft told EGMnow web-site.

Although Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One game systems will be available this November at $499/€499/£449, it did not unveil any exact launch dates for the console. Previously, Microsoft released its Xbox consoles in the second half of November: the Xbox 360 was launched on November 22, 2005, whereas the original Xbox went on sale on November 15, 2001.

Given the fact that this year Microsoft will launch Xbox One around the same time when Sony releases PlayStation 4, it should be better to be the first to market with the novelty so to ensure maximum demand and maximum amount of units sold.
