Recently I noticed over HP’s web-site that it was pretty hard to find the one and only AMD Athlon XP powered business computer Compaq Evo D315 among the offerings of the Palo Alto-based vendor. Maybe it might mean that HP began to phase-out its Athlon-based desktops, however, this assumption is wrong. It seems that the company is still very serious about AMD-based computers and will even sell more of them in the near future.

Dow Jones Business News reports that HP will introduce a new lineup of Compaq Presario computers on Monday all powered by the CPUs from the Sunnyvale-based chipmaker.

The new models will include four desktop PCs for consumers running Athlon XP chips from Advanced Micro Devices. and selling for between $449 and $769. Several in this series of Presario S3000 computers will include DVD drives.

Expect more details about the CPUs and especially chipsets that will be utilised in the newcomers to be available on Monday.
