Computer enthusiasts consider Valve’s latest blockbuster title Half-Life 2 as the “Game of the Year”, says the latest poll at X-bit labs web-site. The survey reflects the gamers’ interest in the second part of the most-advertised title from Valve Software.

Roughly 47% of surveyed visitors voted for the Half-Life 2 as the “best in 2004”. Around 15% voted for FarCry game, approximately 11% hit for the Doom III game. Need for Speed: Underground 2 racing fever struck 6%, in-line with the Unreal Tournament 2004 game. Counter Strike: Source and Painkiller scored 3% and 2% respectively. “Other games” category was hit by 11% of the audience.

X-bit labs thinks the poll reflects major attention to the Half-Life 2 game and its incomparable gameplay that brings the best of the best of the latest titles and scores released. Still, since the game has been launched only recently, some votes could be too optimistic. Motionless, Half-Life 2 is the game of the year, according to X-bit-labs readers and staff.

X-bit labs, a leading hardware enthusiasts web-site, considers Crytek’s FarCry game as the breakthrough title of 2004. Without any huge advertising, the game proved to be one of the best on 2004. Doom III from id Software also seemed to be very exiting, according to the readers, though, it was a highly-anticipated titel. Other major games, such as the Need for Speed Underground 2, Unreal Tournament 2004 and Painkiller scored 6%, 6% and 2% respectively. Other games X-bit labs’ readers played scored 11% of the votes.

The X-bit labs’ polls have surveyed more than 4 thousand of respondents among technology enthusiasts in late November – early December, 2004.
