Hardware Enthusiasts May Get ALX System for Free
[08/12/2005 04:32 AM]Alienware, a maker of high-performance personal computers and workstations, announced that it would give its top-performing ALX system to a computer enthusiasts, whose PC would be the fastest among the benchmarked computers at QuakeCon game contest.
“QuakeCon isn’t just about games, it’s about our community. Alienware is giving gamers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show off their technical know-how to their peers and the rest of the world,” said Brian Joyce, director of marketing for Alienware.
During the QuakeCon event, attendees, who bring their own computers, will have the opportunity to have their systems benchmarked by Alienware technicians. The owner of the system that receives the fastest combined benchmark score will be awarded a brand new Alienware ALX system, valued in excess of $6800.
Alienware Aurora ALX system priced at $6800 would be powered by components like AMD Athlon 64 FX-57, two GeForce 7800 GTX graphics cards, 2GB of PC3200 DDR memory, over 1TB of storage space as well as other premium hardware, such as Alienware Silent Liquid Cooling Technology.
By launching the competition, Alienware not only attracts attention of computer hardware enthusiasts to its systems, but also to explore peculiarities of tweaked and overclocked custom-built systems to get some fresh ideas for future development of the company’s performance-enhanced hardware.
QuakeCon 2005 is being held from August 11-14, 2005 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. The annual event draws gaming enthusiasts from around the world to compete in massive gaming tournaments and to check out the latest games and technology.
