OCZ Technology, a leading supplier of memory modules as well as a vendor of power supply units (PSUs) and graphics cards, has unveiled its first computer peripheral, a mouse, which it calls the world’s best gaming mouse.

The main feature of the OCZ Equalizer Laser Mouse is its 2500dpi (dots per inch) laser sensor, which offers higher precision than Razer’s DeathAdder (1800dpi) or Krait (1600dpi) and Logitech’s MX5 (2000dpi). Unfortunately, in order to provide such precision, OCZ had to sacrifice wireless connectivity of the mouse and the Equalizer is currently wired, just like other gaming mice.

In addition to extreme precision, the Equalizer features the innovative OCZ “Triple Threat” button. Gamers can fire three times with just one click making it easier than ever to hit the target and gain a competitive advantage. At the same time, the ingenious Triple Threat button may also be a useful tool in everyday computing by turning double-click operations, such as opening files and applications, into just one-touch commands.

OCZ Equalizer features quality ergonomics, dual laser engine and extremely responsive sensor array.

Explaining the unexpected move of unveiling a mouse, OCZ said that its goal is to improve overall user experience, which may indicate that the firm has more surprises in its sleeves.

“OCZ’s goal is to constantly develop new cutting edge solutions that make use of the latest technology to offer a superior user experience whether it is editing CAD files or playing the latest games,” said Alex Mei, vice president of marketing, OCZ Technology.
