An anonymous employee of Microsoft Corp. said in a blog post the next version of Windows operating system, which is presently known as Windows 8, would change the way people think about personal computers. He did not reveal any actual details or reasons why Windows.next, as he called it, would be so revolutionary.

“The themes that have been floated truly reflect what people have been looking for years and it will change the way people think about PCs and the way they use them. It is the future of PCs,” an anonymous Microsoft blogger has written, reports Hexus.net web-site.

Even though Windows has come a long way since the revolutionary Windows 95 was released fifteen years ago, newly launched operating systems usually met, but did not exceed expectations, Windows consistently supported hardware and software innovations, but the interface and logic of the system remained virtually unchanged, which is pretty rational, on the other hand. Microsoft has been talking about substantial changes within Windows, e.g., file system, for many years now, however, it never implemented it. Now, Microsoft promises another revolution.

“The minimum that folks can take for granted is that the next version will be something completely different from what folks usually expect of Windows – I am simply impressed with the process that Steven has setup to listen to our customers needs and wants and get a team together than can make it happen. To actually bring together dozens and dozens of teams across Microsoft to come up with a vision for Windows.next is a process that is surreal,” claimed the blogger.

Microsoft Windows 8 is expected to be released in mid-2011.

Microsoft did not comment on the news-story.

This is the same line you hear every version of Windows. They said it about Vista, and that was quite a game change too, wasn't it? Just not in the way any of us wanted...

We are the ones who decide whether it changes what we know about PCs. Not the "Guy who shows up at every release to brag".

Roll it out MS, then we'll put it to the ovens and check whether it survives! (ah! have to clean those ovens first. Vista's stuff are still there after it melted)

Well after Windows 9 they have only one choice: Windows X or if you will - X Window System (and so, the circle will be complete). And by that time the Jobs mob will be running Def Leppard...

If its going to be 'so revolutionary' I think they will ditch the Start menu and use the Desktop to launch apps from. Think iPhone interface, think Windows Mobile 7...bye bye Start menu...

They have a dinosaur mouth full of promises as they develop and delay and redevelop Longhorn. And never release it instead we get crappiSta (aka. vista) and we all know how well that went. Always lacking of resources to satisfy her needs

Anyway. Kids do you really think monstercorp like megacrap could release two successful products in a row  Yep they need something new and successful since WinXp (win2k before it or win 95osr2 theye were all closer than Win7 but not in row) and since then some new kids grew up and yet again mc try to win their hearts cause it's cute and non working  usually.
