Apple said late on Wednesday that its co-founder, long-time chief executive officer and the chairman of the board has died, according to an Associated Press report. Mr. Jobs was 56 years old, in the recent years he had to take leaves of absences due to health conditions.

In late 2003 Mr. Jobs was diagnosed with cancer in his pancreas. In 2004 he had an operation made that removed the cancer. However, in mid-2009 the head of Apple had a liver transplant. Steve Jobs was on the leave of absence since early this year due to health conditions. In August he stepped down from the chief executive position at Apple and became the chairman.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts," an official statement by Apple reads.

Steve Jobs is believed to be the mastermind behind every successful product or service Apple has released in the last thirteen years. The Apple flagship devices like iPod, iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air and others have revolutionized the consumer electronics, personal computer, recorder content and software industries. Those Apple products are not just devices, but a result of quality manufacturing, lean strategy, robust services and many other factors that the world considers unique to Apple and Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs was born on August 24, 1955.

Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 to assemble and sell custom-built personal computers called Apple I. In the late nineteen seventies, Apple continued to rather successfully sell Apple II and Apple III lines of PCs. In the early eighties Apple invented Lisa PC which introduced mouse, graphics user interface and number of other innovations. The real success came to Apple with its Macintosh systems in the mid-eighties. Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple in 1985 after a conflict with the board of directors and the chief exec John Sculley.

Between 1985 and 1986, Mr. Jobs founded NeXT personal computer company as well as bought the Graphics Group company later renamed to Pixar. NeXT PC systems featured an own-developed innovative object operating system that sported a number of concepts that exist even today. The NeXT Computer used by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN became the world's first web server. In the early 1990s John Carmack used a NeXTcube to build two of his pioneering games, Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. After failing to become popular on the mass market, NeXT withdrew from the hardware business in 1993 to concentrate on software development.

In 1996, struggling Apple Computer acquired NeXT for $429 million after in a bid to obtain a competitive operating system, which brought Steve Jobs back to Apple. Mr. Jobs became the interim chief executive in mid-1997 and the new era at Apple began.

Under Steve Jobs, Apple managed to completely reinvent itself from a struggling PC maker into a successful supplier of computers and leading-edge consumer electronics and a provider of Internet-based in just several years time. Apple introduced iPod and iTunes in 2001 and redefined the market of recording music by selling digital copies through the Internet. In 2007 the company introduced its iPhone to re-invent the market of smartphones and inspire content, communication and application revolutions. The iPad launched in 2010 has completely changed personal computing and usage experience bringing computer with easy-to-use apps and the Internet to places unimaginable before.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition,” said Steve Jobs once.

"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple," another statement by Apple reads.

Steve Jobs's survivors include his wife, Laurene, to whom he was married for 20 years, their three children, and a fourth child Lisa from a previous relationship. Mr. Jobs will be rembered as a great inventor, innovator, enterpreneur and visionary of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Apple co-founder Steve Jobs sudden demise causes a deep void in the field of modern innovative technology which appears difficult to be filled, and he will continue to live in people's memory with having digitally so enabled them as to make lives and ideas more intimately communicable. With products like I-phone and I-pod, it was jobs who had transformed the personal computer device into being really a multi-media technological miracle, encompassing the fields of voice communication, entertainment and visual treat, blurring the dividing lines of actual mundane life and virtual reality. May God bless his soul a serine peace.
