Apple, a leading maker of consumer electronics, and Philippe Starck, a renowned designer of various devices, interiors and furniture, have teamed up for a revolutionary project that will be revealed later this year, the design guru said during an interview. No details are known at this point.

"Indeed, we have a big project together that will be out in eight months," said Philippe Starck in an interview with France Info radio, declining to comment further because of what he called Apple's "secrecy cult", but still called the project "fairly, if not very, revolutionary", reports AFP news-agency.

Philippe Starck is known for designing loads of industrial things, including stylized toothbrushes, wireless speakers for the iPod and iPhone (Zikmu Parrot), external hard drive enclosures for LaCie, Microsoft mice, watches for Fossil, chairs, bus stops, interiors for nightclubs, restaurants, hotels and many more.

Potentially, Mr. Starck could have designed almost any product for Apple. However, given the fact that Apple's own Jonathan Ive has been designing all Apple's flagship products for over a decade now, it is unlikely that Philippe Starck would design the next-generation iPhone. What is more likely, given Mr. Starck's experience in consumer electronics design, is that the famous designer will work on the highly-anticipated Apple TV-set, which should be released sometimes later this year. Still, keeping in mind that Mr. Starck has projected various interiors and exteriors, he could be involved into creation of Apple's new "spaceship" campus.

Apple did not comment on the news-story.

Isn't it obvious that an iToothbrush is coming?

But of course, you will have to buy the replacement bristles from the Apple Store.
