In other words, it's an update that isn't even worthy of mentioning in a tech article. Instead of using that god forsaken UI, you can completely remove Metro and use Explorer from Windows 7 with the following:

Or you can be part of the intelligent users and just install Linux and get rid of that Microsoft partition of shame that infects everyone's partition tables.

Why would you use the win7 explorer when win8 explorer is much more optimized? Just get a some start button freeware that boots you into the desktop app and then you don't have to worry about the metro ui as well. Not too tough to make win8 usable like win7 and it is a more efficient and well polished os in terms of performance and efficiency. But I guess it is hip to hate the mainstream so lets just be rebels and install Linux :| give me a break ...

The problem is, we shouldn't have to. Windows 8 is a f'in mess. I have Windows 7 and I'll stick with it and my installations of Linux Mint and openSuse Linux. I hope Ballmer gets the boot. He's nothing short of Microsoft's version of John Sculley.

Seems you completely miss the entire point. The very definition of hip means to always get rid of the old for the latest. This has nothing to do with 'hating the mainstream.' It is advisable to quickly throw away such immature level of reasoning.

Why would you use Windows 8 explorer when it's completely failed and Windows 7 did it better? All everyone wants is to go back to the UI from Windows 7. That Start Button 'freeware' sucks, and so does the Metro UI. Metro UI brings absolutely nothing useful to the table. Microsoft could learn a thing or two from DE developers on Linux. Unity and KDE have far better design and usefulness.

Linux is a superior OS in every possible way. Even recently it was announced that Ubuntu Kylin is to become the official OS of China. The only thing Windows has going for it is that it is most familiar with commoners like yourself. Not a single person in my family uses Windows, nor do they want to go back to Windows. They are all happily enjoying Linux.

If you want to throw out slander, I can call you a hipster kiddie who thinks the latest version is always the greatest version, and thinks it is 'cool' to be part of the bandwagon supporting such ill decisions.
