Well, it looks as if The Inquirer guys were really mistaken when they claimed that VIA would cancel the launching of their "pseudo-new" KT333 chipset in favour of the really new KT333A solution. There are two facts backing up this opinion of mine: first of all the mainboard manufacturers keep announcing KT333 based products (see this news story to read about MSI announcement) and secondly, most mainboard manufacturers confirm that their mainboards based on this chipset should start shipping according to the schedule (see OCWorkBench for details). Well, it’s a pity. I really hoped that VIA has finally taken the right way. I have to admit that I was mistaken. Anyway, VIA should keep making chipsets and we – decide: to use or not to use. Especially, since KT333 will definitely find its application: in the new PCs assembled disregarding their prospects.

The mainboard makers also say that the current chipset revision is A2, while the final products will be built on A3 or even A4 revision. The exact launching date for KT333 hasn’t been announced officially yet, however our source claim that it should take place on February 20.
