Despite the announcement of the GeForce4 family, which has undoubtedly draw most attention these days, VIA, and to be more exact its VPSD division did announce a new mainboard based on the "illegal" VIA P4X266A core logic. The newcomer is called P4PA and the remarkable thing about it is the implemented support of the modern ATA/133 and USB 2.0 protocols. This feature is implemented in the new VT8233A South Bridge, and USB 2.0 is possible de to one more VIA’s development: VT6202 PCI-USB Bridge.

The mainboard is designed for Socket478 CPUs with 400/533MHz bus. It features 3 DIMM slots for PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM, an AGP 4x slot, 6 PCI slots, Realtek RTL8100 network controller, AC’97 sound controller, 4 USB 2.0 ports.

The board should start selling soon, according to the press-release. :)
