Digitimes today reported the preliminary sales results for the first tier mainboard makers in January. Here they are:
  • Once again Elitegroup appeared the sales leader having supplied 1/55 million mainboards in January. They have also sold about 300 thousand graphics cards based only on SiS’ chips.
  • ASUS, as usual, won the second prize having supplied just a little bit less: 1.4 million mainboards. As for the graphics cards, they sold 530 thousand.
  • The third position is now occupied by Gigabyte with a standard shipment volume of 1 million mainboards per month. However, it is only because we don’t know the results for MSI yet. Judging by the last year’s results, MSI may appear a little bit ahead of Gigabyte.
  • For your reference we would like to offer some numbers for the second-tier makers: DFI – 210 thousand, EPoX – 180 thousand, SOYO – 70 thousand (another volume decrease), Jetway – around 120 thousand mainboards and 50 thousand graphics cards.
I would like to stress that the sales of the first-tier mainboard manufacturers are incredibly high for the first month of the year, which is usually a bad season because of the New Year holidays. However, another bad season is still ahead: the Chinese New Year :)
