As expected, yesterday AMD announced its new processor - Duron 1.3GHz (with the 0.18-micron Morgan core), which reaches the frequency of its competitor from Intel. The official price per item in 1000-piece units of the new Duron was set the same as for Celeron 1.3 GHz (0.13 micron Tualatin/256) - $118.
It could easily happen to be the last Duron CPUs manufactured on AMD’s own productive capacities. In the nearest future it’s UMC who is expected to produce them, but this information is still a rumor which is not officially disproved by any of the interested parties.
