Pentium 4 (Northwood) Already Selling! [12/24/2001 06:29 PM]

The Japanese hardware retail stores started offering first Pentium 4 CPUs based on the new 0.13micron Northwood core.
Namely, they are selling Pentium 4 2A working at 2GHz core clock, featuring 512KB L2 cache and put into the same 478-pin FC-PGA2 package, as its predecessors based on the 0.18micron Willamette core. This CPU didn’t get too widely spread yet (it is selling only in one single store), however, it is just a matter of a bit more time: after January 6, 2002 it should start selling everywhere. At the same time, its price is also expected to go down, as it is crazily high now: the mentioned above Pentium 4 2A is selling for around $460.
