The fever in the memory market continues. As we read over here, the growth of DDR SDRAM modules costs, which we have already told you about the day before yesterday, wasn’t just a "fluctuation". In addition, there is a great shortage of this type of memory in the market, which was caused by its fast growing popularity due to numerous DDR mainboards, which start overwhelming the market finally (SiS645, SiS735, VIA KT266A).
The market reacted to the shortages immediately. Now 128Mbit DDR SDRAM chips cost between $2.60 and $2,80, which is about 80% (!) higher than in the end of October. The prices for 256MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules increased up to $40-$45 on the average, according to Pricewatch (as you remember, two days ago they cost $33-$40). Although you can still come across some places offering these modules for $35 and even $34, however, we don’t think they will do that for long.
