- QBM SDRAM DIMM design has been revised: the number of additional components has been reduced significantly.
- The production cost of a QBM SDRAM DIMM modules will be $10 higher than that of the PC2100 DDR SDRAM DIMM modules of the same size.
- QBM technology is now planned to be used only for DDR266 chips, however, it can be also used together with other memory types (FCRAM, RLDRAM, etc.).
- Integrating QBM support into the existing memory controllers will require minor changes in the chipset layout, or will not require any changes at all.
- There will be at first made Unbuffered QBM SDRAM DIMM modules, then QBM SDRAM SO-DIMM modules will come out (for network and communicational equipment, probably), and then we will get Registered DIMM modules for servers.
- The first QBM SDRAM DIMMs are expected to appear in Q1’02 already.
