Well, Intel Developer Forum ended, but I still have some interesting things to tell you from this conference. Apparently, TYAN also showcased the prototype of their Granite Bay mainboard in their booth at IDF, what we did not mentioned in the previous issue about mainboards based on this upcoming core-logic from Intel (see this news-story).

Today we received an opportunity to publish what TYAN Trinity "Granite Bay" S2662 has to offer:

  • Supports Socket 478 Pentium 4 processors with 400/533MHz FSB;
  • E7205 + ICH4 core-logic;
  • 4 DIMM slots for up to 4GB of PC1600 or PC2100 DDR SDRAM (Support dual-channel DDR SDRAM, requires 2 or 4 memory modules to be installed);
  • 5 PCI, 1 AGP Pro 8x;
  • Integrated 2-channel ATA-100 controller;
  • USB 2.0 ports;
  • AC’97 6-channel audio solution;
  • 10/100/1000Mbit Fast Ethernet controller from Intel;
On the picture you may notice additional rows of pins for a controller and a SCSI connector, hence, we can presuppose a version of Trinity "Granite Bay" S2662 with SCSI support. This will definitely be useful for entry-level servers.

The mainboard is scheduled to come in November this year and become a perfect solution for the up and coming Pentium 4 3.06GHz processor with Hyper-Threading technology enabled. The price of the novelty is to be decided.
