The number of mainboards based on one of the today’s fastest Socket A chipsets, VIA KT266A, keeps growing. This week, for instance, the Japanese hardware stores started offering ASUS A7V266-E built on VIA KT266A.
ASUS A7V266-E looks very much like its predecessor, ASUS A7V266, so that almost the only difference between them is the new chipset revision. The mainboard features an AGP Pro slot, 5 PCI slots, 1 CNR slot, 3 DIMM slots for DDR SDRAM, an integrated C-media sound controller and Promise ATA/100 IDE RAID controller. The mainboard boasts rich overclocking friendly options, such as CPU clock frequency multiplier adjustment, FSB frequency changing between 100MHz and 227MHz and Vcore increase up to 1.85V.
In Japan the board is selling for $177.
