ALi’s sales achieved about $14.9 million in August what is more than two times less than SiS and VIA reported. Furthermore, ALi’s month-on-month growth was only 1.6% in August compared to July. In August the industry usually awakes and the companies always declare significant month-on-month growth, for instance, VIA reported 6.4% growth, while SiS even managed to achieve 17.6%! Nevertheless, we should point out that this year is more favourable for ALi, than 2001, its year-on-year growth reached 36.5%, so, the trend seems to be quite positive for them.

To sum up, I should confirm that ALi succeeds in selling more products this year. However, this growth is generally caused by ALi’s core-logic sets for different appliances and devices that have nothing to do with mainboards. Although ALi announced some chipsets for the Pentium 4 and the ClawHammer platforms earlier this year, I have not yet seen any products for the Pentium 4 processors based on the latest novelty from ALi. The x86-64 will not become massive until the second quarter 2003, moreover, I am not sure that ALi’s core-logic for this platform will become popular among mainboard manufacturers. So, although ALi’s business is on the rise, it is too early to speak about any success of this company
