TYAN announced that they had started shipping the Tachyon graphics cards based on the RADEON 9000 and RADEON 9000PRO processors. As we know, the company was recently acquired by Mitac International and now expands its product portfolio with numerous consumers-oriented products.

The first release is called Tachyon G9000Pro and, as you can easily guess from the name, the device is based on the RADEON 9000 PRO GPU. The graphics card is equipped with 64MB of DDR SDRAM memory, D-Sub, DVI and a TV-Out connector and made according to ATI’s reference design. The product is bundled with all necessary cables and adapters, including DVI to VGA, S-Video to RCA and so on. TYAN plans to offer both RADEON 9000 and RADEON 9000 PRO graphics cards, the only difference between them are the clock-speeds: 250/200MHz (core/memory) for the former and 275/275MHz for the latter. The MSRP for the Tachyon G9000Pro is going to be around $119.

TYAN will soon release their RADEON 9700 PRO graphics card equipped with 128MB of DDR SDRAM and all the video connectors that are offered by ATI. The newcomer is due on the first week of October and will be the highest model in the Tachyon line of products. What is very interesting, TYAN will not just resell the graphics cards provided by ATI, instead, they company will make them using their own manufacturing facilities. Currently Shanghai Development team is working on the PCB designs for the RADEON 9700 PRO and RADEON 9500 graphics cards.

Well, TYAN seems to be the first company to offer RADEON 9700 PRO made by themselves and not ATI’s manufacturer.
