Both i845PE and i845GE support 533MHz system bus, PC2700 DDR SDRAM memory, the HyperThreading technology and will feature ICH4 as I/O controller. The first one is a discrete solution and the successor of the famous i845E, while the second is an updated version of the i845G. The remaining i845GV is rumoured to support the HyperThreading, but is positioned as a replacement for the i845GL low-end core-logic. The newcomer still has no AGP, but provides 533MHz FSB.
This month the semiconductor giant will also start sampling its first mainstream chipset with 2-channel DDR SDRAM and 667MHz processor bus implemented. The code-named Springdale is set to appear by the end of the second quarter 2003. Given that mainboard makers will be able to work on their own designs starting from now, we believe that the Spring’s novelty will also appear just on time and ready to rock the market. What about 0.09 micron Prescott processor?
