ALi Company announced that they had reduced the prices on their Aladdin TNT2 chipset down to $15 (!) in 10,000-unit quantities. In other words, we could say that the mainboard manufactures will be getting this chipset almost for nothing. Such a low price can be explained by ALi’s vital desire to sell out all the remaining chipsets as soon as possible and to focus on different products, which are more popular currently. They are ALi MAGiK 1 and Aladdin Pro 5 chipsets. ALi is supposed to run out of Aladdin TNT2 chipsets in Q3 2001.
Another ALi’s chipset, Aladdin Pro 4, is now also selling at a lower price. It is reported to cost as much as a similar solution from VIA – Apollo Pro133A.
