Thermaltake has informed the public about a new cooler from the Orbs series which is actually a modified Chrome Orb.

We may confess that the name Copper Orb is not a contingency - the cooler’s foot is really made of copper. The matter is that copper has better heat resistance than aluminum, hence it is more reasonable to use this metal in coolers. Sadly, copper has a grave disadvantage: it costs more than aluminum. For this reason it’s too expensive to manufacture a cooler entirely of copper. Thermaltake has tried to find the golden middle and used it only for the foot.
Let us compare the specifications of Copper Orb, Chrome Orb and Super Orb:

Copper Orb Chrome Orb Super Orb
Diameter, mm 69 69 69
Heigth, mm 45 45 74
FAN speed, RPM 5500 5500 5000
Noice, dBA 29 29 top cooler - 30
bottom cooler - 28
Material Base - pure copper
Aluminium 6063
Aluminium 6063 Aluminium 6030
Voltage, V 12 12 12
Thermal resistance, C/W 0.56 0.81 0.66

Wow! The thermal resistance of Copper Orb is even better than that of Super Orb (so far an absolute leader in our tests)! These are just dry specs though. To draw any unbiased conclusions, we should run a test. Well, we are looking forward to getting hold of such a curious sample.
Yet there is nothing said about the awaited price for Copper Orb, but we guess it will fall between Chrome Orb and Super Orb.
