As it was expected, Thermaltake announced launching its PC2100 DDR SDRAM DIMM modules with 128MB capacity.

These modules are built on chips by Samsung and are surely equipped with brand radiators, which can be shipped separately from the DIMM modules.

Obviously, Thermalflake was not entirely satisfied with this expansion on the DDR SDRAM DIMM market and announced another newcomer - a heatsink for memory chips on graphics cards.

Amusing as it may seem, the new heatsink are called "Thermaltake DDR HEAT SPREADER", as though they are meant to cool DDR chips only and SDR chips fall out of their ambit. ;)
In our humble opinion, these novelties are no urgent item, because using heatsinks for DIMM modules, whose frequency is more or less low, proves almost unnecessary - it’s not RIMM, you know... Subsequently, we are inclined to view this product as sheerly marketing tactics.
It is also unclear whether heatsinks for graphics cards memory are that important, for if they are really needed, manufacturers add them to the cards at the very beginning. If not, then as a rule the frequencies are too low to use a heatsink. The only issue that remains indubious is the esthetic value of these heatsinks. They look really smart!
