Seagate Launching Two New Cheetahs. [03/22/2001 04:10 PM]

Seagate has announced two more lines of high-performance hard disc drives known as «Cheetah».
Cheetah X15-36LP:
  • Data density: 9GB per platter
  • Spindle rotation speed: 15000 RPM
  • Buffer size: 8MB
  • Average Seek Time: reading - 3.6ms, writing - 4.1ms
  • Interface: Ultra320 SCSI, 2Gb Fibre Channel
  • Height: 25.4mm ("Low Profile")
  • Disc capacities in the series: 36GB (4 platters), 18GB (2 platterts)
Cheetah 36ES:
  • Data density: 18GB per platter
  • Spindle rotation speed: 10000 RPM
  • Standard buffer capacity: 4MB
  • Average Seek Time: reading - 5.2ms, writing - 6.0ms
  • Interface: Ultra320 SCSI
  • Idle Noise Level: 3.2Bel
  • Disc capacities in the series: 36GB (2 platters), 18GB (1 platter)
Discs of both these lines are scheduled to ship in Q2 2001. Recommended retail prices are:
