Fresh Controllers by Promise. [03/21/2001 09:05 AM]

On the eve of the forthcoming CeBIT, Promise - the well-known ATA/100 RAID controller ace - has announced a range of new products for 66MHz PCI64 bus:
  • Ultra100 TX2 is a standard ATA/100 controller using 66MHz PCI64 bus. Except the slot change, it is much like the former Ultra100 controller and supports two IDE channels. Each of the channels lets connect up to two IDE/ATAPI devices.
  • FastTrak100 TX4 is a ATA/100 IDE RAID controller with four (!) IDE channels. Although this controller supports only RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 0+1, these four IDE channels may come in handy to connect four hard disk drives (one HDD per channel). Such solution grants some performance gain in comparison with the two-drives-per-controller connection.
  • FastTrak100 TX2 is similar to the common ATA/100 IDE RAID FastTrak100 controller, but this one works with 66MHz PCI bus. The controller features two IDE channels and supports RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 0+1.
  • FastTrak100 LP is a Low Profile controller for 66MHz PCI64 bus supporting RAID 0 and RAID 1, which is intended for Rack Mount servers. It has two IDE channels.
These controllers are to start shipping in Q2. RAID controllers will be also offered in Pro-sets including Promise SuperSwap "hot swap" chasises.
