As people are keeping eyes on the DDR boards, especially the platform based on Socket A processors, VIA’s KT266 certainly becomes the most expecting solution. EPoX again responds to the market and introduce its first KT266 motherboards – EP-8KHA.
EP-8KHA is built up with VIA KT266 chipset which is delivering powerful new features including DDR266 SDRAM, a 266MHz Front Side Bus, V-Link Hub Architecture, and ATA-100 support to the AMD Socket A platform. Same as EP-3VHA, the VIA Pro 266 motherboards, EP-8KHA is built with V-Link memory controller architecture which supports DDR 200/266 SDRAM. It doubles the communication bandwidth between the North and South Bridge to 266MB per second. The south bridge is VT8233, which is also providing the hardware monitoring functions, and the 10/100 on board Fast Ethernet as well as the HSP modem.
EP-8KHA, sized ATX form factor is equipped with 6 master PCI expansion slots and 1 4X AGP slot. The three 184pin DDR DIMM for PC266 memory supports up to 1.5GB. It also could be connected with up to 4 Ultra DMA-100 devices. Aiming in the distribution channel, this board is with functions to optimize the CPU performance to meet the users’ needs. The CPU Vcore/VIO can be adjusted via BIOS, as well as CPU Clock setting. And the very "EPoX Style" on board function – 2-digit Debug LED display – P80P (POST) card is remains built on EP-8KHA. It’s so helpful for users to correct the installation and system booting errors. This function is also built with those popular models from EPoX such as EP-8KTA3 series.
EP-8KHA will be distributed to the market in the beginning of April. More information would available from all EPoX branches.
