Gigabyte launched an advanced model, GA-6RXB, a DDR based mainboard for Intel Socket370 platforms. The GA-6RXB is based on VIA Apollo Pro266 DDR chipset, which doubles memory data throughput, so it can reach a peak memory bandwidth of 2.1GB/sec. The mainboard is equipped with 2 DDR DIMM slots and 2 PC100/PC133 DIMM slots. The mainboard supports IDE ATA-100 devices and reaches data transfer speed at maximum of 100MB/sec. Another noticeable feature is the support of IDE RAID 0/1 (option).
Additional key features include support for 6 USB ports via optional cable and AMR/AGP cards, Creative CT5880 4-channel audio, 5 PCI slots, one AMR slot, one AGP Pro slot, infrared connector, wake-on-LAN, external/internal modem wake-up and 2 optional IDE RAID connectors.
To optimize the system performance, Gigabyte provides 2 utilities, EasyTune III and @BIOS. EasyTune III is a Windows based program which allows the user to easily overdrive the PC without the need to meddle with jumper settings. @BIOS is another Windows based utility for updating new BIOS upgrades via the Internet.
