3Dlabs Company, which focuses on the professional graphics cards manufacturing and hence isn’t often mentioned in our news, today attracted our attention by a new interesting announcement made. They introduced a new model in their well-known Wildcat family based on 3Dlabs ParaScale architecture. The newcomer is called Wildcat II 5110 and can boast the performance almost twice as high as that of its predecessor, Wildcat 4110. So, Wildcat 5110 deserves the title of the today’s fastest professional graphics accelerator. According to the results obtained in SPECviewperf, Wildcat II 5110 leaves NVIDIA Quadro2 Pro far behind proving 33-188% faster depending on the benchmark from this software package and leaves Diamond FireGL2 far behind proving 5-82% faster (see the detailed performance analysis and testing results here).
The new card features 144MB of memory installed into AGP Pro slot. as for the cost of this new monster, 3Dlabs still keeps silent about it.
