According to our sources, AMD is going to release its AMD-760MP chipset supporting dual-Athlon configurations in the end of March. The first mainboard manufacturer to develop boards based on this chipset will be Tyan. Tyan will announce its mainboard as soon as the chipset becomes available in mass quantities. So, in Q2 2001 the real boards from Tyan have every chance to be available, though in limited quantities at first. However, AMD will introduce Palomino aimed at dual-processor systems only in Q3 2001. Therefore, all other mainboard manufacturers planning to announce their products based on AMD-760MP, such as Gigabyte, Iwill, ASUS, SuperMicro, etc. will start mass product of these boards only in Q3. At the same time, there is some info proving that VIA will also introduce its new solution for Athlon dual-processor configurations in Q3.
