Having announced the new core for its desktop Pentium III processors, Intel did the same to their mobile counterparts. The new mobile Pentium III CPUs with 750, 800 and 850MHz core clock frequencies (available in both BGA2 and Micro-PGA2 packages) are about to get a new “D0” core stepping in the nearest future.
Luckily, the new mobile processors won’t get higher core voltages, unlike Intel new desktop solutions. The new D0 core will differ from C0 one by the CPUID, which will be set to 068A instead of 0686, and will also feature small differences in the pin layout (P1 will be connected with Vcc).
The first processor samples with the new D0 core will be available for testing on 2 February. The first series of tests will be over on 16 March, and starting from 30 March the CPUs based on a new core will start selling in mass.
