According to Media Xplosion, there appeared some info on the new upcoming KYRO product from STM. Though they claim that the roadmap this info is based on is slightly outdated, the facts can be still of great interest to all of us. As to this notorious roadmap, KYRO II will feature 4 pixel pipelines, T&L support and 128MB DDR memory onboard. It is expected to run at 166MHz and should be manufactured with a finer 0.18 micron technology, which is also an improvement, because it will make KYRO II fit for the mobile market as well. The new KYRO II T&L engine will process from 20 to 25 million triangles per second and will feature hardware DVD decoding acceleration aimed at reducing the processor workload. Besides, there have already appeared new drivers supporting PowerVR KYRO II, which prove that the guess about the chip frequency has every chance to be correct. See the line from the drivers .inf file:
[KYROII_Speed_AddReg]
HKLM,%HWSettings%PMXKERN,"CorePLLFreq",,"166"
It definitely states "166", which is the frequency, no doubt.
Well, since there are even the drivers already available, the accelerator itself should definitely appear in the nearest future.
