According to the info from EPoX, they announced the world’s first Pentium 4 mainboard based on Intel 850E chipset and equipped with ICH4 hub. As you know, the Intel’s specs claim that i850E should come with the slightly outdated ICH2 without the USB 2.0 support.

However, I would like to slightly disappoint EPoX guys: their mainboard equipped with this South Bridge is not the world’s first, but the world’s second only. The first i850E based mainboard with ICH4 South Bridge was announced by Gigabyte three months ago. It was GA-8IHXP.

Also the new solution from EPoX called EP-4T4A+ appeared the second mainboard supporting 32bit RIMM modules. Just like ASUS P4T533, which has already been selling in some stores, this solution is equipped with two 232-pin RIMM slots and supports 32bit PC3200/PC4200 RDRAM.

All other features of the new EPoX EP-4T4A+ look pretty usual. The mainboard is equipped with an AGP r4x slot, 5 PCI slots, supports 4 USB 2.0 ports due to this “unique” South Bridge and features IEEE1394 ports implemented via the additional integrated controller. Also the mainboard boasts an onboard Realtek RTL8100B 10/100Mbit Ethernet controller and HPT372 ATA/133 RAID controller.

The overclocking fans will be pleased to see that the board allows not only changing the FSB frequency, bus also increasing Vcore, Vagp and Vmem. Also keep in mind that EP-4T4A+ is provided with EPoX’ traditional POST controller.

Neither the price nor the shipping schedule have been mentioned so far.
