Among the first partners of Trident Company we can mention such companies as Chaintech, Innovision, HIS and Jetway. However, no wonder that some manufacturers welcomed Trident XP4 with great enthusiasm. The times when NVIDIA’s pressure forced graphics card makers to be loyal to them have already passed and now the manufacturers are guided solely by the advantages of the solution they select for their products.
You can now find pictures of the first graphics cards on Trident XP4 here.
At the event you could see the cards based only on two slowest modifications of the new XP4 chip: T1 and T2. This happened because the solutions built on the faster T3 modification are scheduled to come out a bit later. It looks as if the 0.13micron manufacturing technology by UMC, which is used to make Trident XP4, doesn’t allow creating low-cost 300MHz chips. As you remember, Trident intends to sell its XP3 based cards for $100 at the most.
Unfortunately, there are no details about the performance of the new Trident baby yet. At the same time, at the event they demonstrated FirectX8-features of the XP4 solution. The card based on it managed to complete 3DMark2001 Nature test involving pixel and vertex shaders to the full extent.
