Hardly can a week pass without a VIA KT400 based mainboard announcement. This time the well-known Chinese manufacturer, QDI, which is by the way the primary partner of Dell Company, announced its KuDoz 7X mainboard. The features of the new solution look as follows:
- Socket A mainboard supporting Athlon XP/Athlon/Duron CPUs with 200/266MHz bus;
- VIA KT400 chipset with VT8235 South Bridge;
- 3 DIMM slots supporting DDR400/DDR333/DDR266 memory;
- AGP 8x slot, 6 PCI slots, 1 CNR slot;
- 6 USB 2.0 ports, ATA/133 and 2 SerialATA channels;
- Integrated Creative CR5880 sound or CA’97 codec.
QDI KuDoz 7X is reported to replace another solution, KuDoz 7E333 based on VIA KT333 chipset. Also together with the launching of the new solution, QDI will stop supplying boards on KT266A, namely KuDoz 7 2.0. At the same time Kinetiz 7E based on VIA KT133A chipset supporting PC133 SDRAM and Socket A CPUs will remain in the product range until the end of the year.
QDI also shared the schedule for the new VIA KT400 solution. Supposedly, they should start shipping KuDoz 7X in October. Note that some other manufacturers are going to start selling their mainboards based on VIA KT400 chipset much earlier: in late August-early September.
