The mainboard is equipped with Socket754, features 2 DIMM slots supporting DDR266/DDR333 SDRAM, 5 PCI and 1 AGP Pro slot supporting AGP 3.0 (AGP 8x). As you can see from the picture above, the mainboard is built on AMD-8000 chipset including AMD-8151 AGP tunnel and AMD-8111 I/O tunnel. This way, we can say that K8M supports such standards as USB 2.0 and ATA/133. Besides, ASUS also implemented SerialATA-150 support in its new product via an onboard SiliconImage controller. Also the board supports IEEE1394 (due to VIA VT6307 controller), 6-channel AC’97 sound and 10/100Mbit Ethernet.
Note that the mainboard is also equipped with an additional 12V connector, which most probably means that Hammer mainboards will require special power supply units with a 12V cable meeting ATX 2.03 specification. However, ASUS made it possible to do also with the regular PSU, just like in case of Pentium 4. For this purpose they laid out a special Ez-Plug 12V connector on the PCB of their K8M.
I would also like to point out that the showcased mainboard was marked as Rev. 1.0, which implies that this is an almost ready sample. In other words, ASUS is ready for Hammer to come now.
