We have already mentioned in our news that ASUS is going to start shipping its new SiS648 based mainboard aka ASUS P4S8X. Today we managed to learn a bit more about the product and its specifications.

Our friends from this French site reported that ASUS P4S8X will be designed for Socket478 CPUs, will support processors with 400MHz and 533MHz bus, will have an AGP 8x slot, 6 PCI slots and 3 DIMM slots for up to 3GB DDR266/DDR333/DDR400 SDRAM. Also the mainboard will have 6 USB 2.0 ports and 3 IEEE 1394 ports. ASUS will bundle its P4S8X with a few integrated controllers including 6-channel C-Media CMI9739 sound controller, Realtek network controller and Promise SerialATA controller.

ASUS P4S8X is expected to start shipping in August.
