As we have already told you in our news (see
this news story), the new FIC mainboard based on ATI IGP320 appeared not very successful, to put it mildly, having shown quite low performance and revealed a number of problems. All in all, this is typical of all new chipsets (remember NVIDIA nForce, which launching was postponed by over 6 months and the constantly improved and polished VIA chipsets with the "A" index).
One of the problems about the test samples of the FIC AT31 appeared unstable work with AMD Athlon processors. Although it appeared to get along just excellently with their younger brothers, Duron CPUs. According to sources, FIA’s reaction to the problem followed very rapidly by adding one more capacitor to the processor power circuit, which has cured the problem once and for all.
It looks as if the company decided to save some money on extra components, which led to this problem with the CPU power circuits, because Athlon processors consume much more power than Duron ones.
We sincerely hope that FIC will manage to solve all other problems easily as well. On the other hand, ATI also has something to work on: the drivers and BIOS need more polishing, I believe, so that the board could not only work properly but also perform adequately.

I just ordered 6 AMD systems with that at31 board. I am too not very pleased with its performance. I have not been succesful at installing any windows operating system 98, 2000, and xp. Its suppose to be only for 2000 and Xp. If you have any suggestions e-mail me at metalmanesp@yahoo.com. And yes it has the latest bios update. Thank you.

I have an AT31 Fusion Motherboard (MB), the system has Windows XP loaded on it, the system will work for a short time, then it reboots by itself. I am wondering if this missing capacitor is the problem. I tried contacting FIC about this issue, but they said they can not supply that kind of information, nor did they offer to help me by having me send in the MB for them to correct it. Does the person who wrote this article: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/other/display/news485.html
have the capacitor value and where this capacitor needs to be installed. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have gotten a stable high performance and overclocked system with the AT31 FUSION but I did not use the drivers from FIC's website.
ATI has drivers for the AGP miniport and video on their website. VIA has hyperion suite drivers that work well with the southbridge -JUST DO NOT INSTALL THE AGP PART.
