VIA Joins HyperTransport Consortium. [06/27/2002 06:18 AM]

Surprising as it might seem, but VIA, which has been working hard on new chipsets for hammer processors hasn’t yet been a member of the HyperTransport consortium, which already includes dozens of companies, even those which are very unlikely to ever use this technology. However, now this misunderstanding has been eliminated: the company officially announced their entrance into the HyperTransport Consortium.

By the way, there is one more advantage of the open technology: to use it the companies do not have to pay any significant fees 9the payments are very formal and small), besides, they don’t have to be members of any larger technological groups and consortiums. And as a result, the technology like that will be spreading very rapidly, which we see in case of HyperTransport, actually.
