Tomorrow starts Comdex Fall 2002 exhibitions, one of the most important and exiting annual events in computer world, where a lot of new products are unveiled. This year our Anna makes it to Las Vegas, so, get ready to read a lot of very interesting news-stories from there. In order to attract your attention to the newswire starting from Monday, November the 18th, I will shortly tell you what to expect from Comdex Fall 2002. Numerous things have already been unveiled at educational days this Saturday and Sunday, but keep in mind: there is even more to come.

Intel continues to show the advantages brought by their products and technologies. Expect them to once again show you the power Itanium 2 provides and demonstrate several high-end servers together with their partners. Moreover, the largest semiconductor maker on the planet also plans to describe and unveil its 533MHz Quad Pumped Bus-supporting core-logic for middle-end and entry-level servers as well as high-end workstations. The company also pays special attention to their technologies like Hyper-Threading, Hyper-Threading II and so on – certain details of the up and coming Pentium 4 “Prescott” and maybe even the Tejas processor may be revealed. Of course, the company also intends to once again attract your attention to their mobile, handheld and wireless solutions, such as Banias and Xscale platforms as well as WLAN controllers and total connectivity strategy.

Frankly speaking, wireless and mobile stuff seem to play the most important role in the show at this time. Not only Intel, but AMD, National Semiconductor, Microsoft and others will tell us how it is important to spread mobile devices with wireless connectivity these days; a lot of hardware and software developers prepare to showcase their products and solutions of such kind. All in all, it is going to be really hot on the mobile field both at Comdex, as well as during the coming years.

Just like Intel, AMD also keeps promoting their technologies. Of course, the most highly-anticipated processors ClawHammer and Opteron are going to be shown once again. I wonder if they demonstrate a more or less final version of the CPUs running closely at 2GHz core-clock. Of course, expect AMD to make a couple of interesting announcements during the event.

NVIDIA will finally unveil its long-awaited GeForce FX aka NV30 graphics processor. Although the company and its partners will not be able to start selling the actual products based on the novelty until January or even February, it will still be pretty interesting to see the capabilities of the GeForce FX. Unfortunately, NVIDIA does not plan to issue precise performance estimates at this time.

As for ATI Technologies – everything is clear here: RADEON 9700 and 9500-series of graphics cards will be shown both by ATI itself and its partners. By the way, a well-known retailer from the USA will make a very interesting announcement together with ATI one of these days.

Mainboard manufacturers, storage solution providers, multimedia vendors and other companies involved in the computer hardware and software business will tell us loads of exciting things. Keep your eyes on the newswire at X-Bit Labs and you will know the most precise information straight from the Comdex Fall 2002.
