As we told you back in September, this year Intel plans to unveil numerous dual-channel DDR-SDRAM supporting core-logic devices for workstation and servers. Some mainboard manufacturers already revealed their Intel “Granite Bay” E7205 chipset powered devices (see this news-story), now its the time for the more advanced Intel “Placer” E7505 core-logic to come.

IWILL today announced its DP533 series of mainboards based on the E7505 chipset solution from Intel. The 7505 (Placer) supports dual Intel Xeon configuration, AGP 8x, PCI-X bus and dual-channel DDR SDRAM controller. The core-logic set for servers and high-end workstations consists of 3 chips that cost about $100 all together.

Here are the specifications of IWILL DP533 typical mainboard:

  • Supports Socket 604 Xeon processors with 400/533MHz FSB;
  • Can take advantage of the CPUs with the Hyper-Threading technology enabled;
  • Intel 7505 chipset, including Placer MCH, ICH4 and P64H2;
  • 4 DIMM slots for up to 4GB of PC1600 or PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory. Dual-channel memory supported;
  • 2 PCI, 3 PCI-X (2x100MHz; 1x133MHz) and 1 AGP 8x slot;
  • 2-channel ATA-100/66/33 integrated controller;
  • 2-channel Ultra 320 SCSI controller from Adaptec;
  • 4 USB 2.0 ports;
  • 10/100/1000Mbit/s Ethernet adapter;
  • Integrated audio solution.

The information about pricing and availability was not touched upon. According to preliminary data, IWILL will make the novelty available after Intel official announced its core-logic.
